The compiler Sheikh Yūsuf ibn Ismāʿīl al-Nabhānī (1849–1932 CE / 1265–1350 AH), was a prominent Palestinian scholar, judge (qāḍī), poet, and prolific writer who served as Chief Judge of the Rights Court in Beirut during the late Ottoman period.

Jāmiʿ al-Ṣalawāt wa-Majmaʿ al-Saʿādāt is a collection of Ṣalawāt compiled by Shaykh Yūsuf ibn Ismāʿīl al-Nabhānī. The work was completed and published in Beirut in 1318 AH (1900 CE) and brings together 200 formulas of sending blessings and salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is one of the most famous and comprehensive anthologies of Ṣalawāt (supplications invoking blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) compiled in the late Ottoman era.

The collection draws from Prophetic traditions as well as formulas transmitted or composed by scholars and devotional figures from different periods of Islamic history. Among the sources represented are the works and litanies associated with Imam al-Shāfiʿī, Imam al-Ghazālī, Imam al-Nawawī, Ibn ʿAbd al-Salām, Shaykh Aḥmad al-Dardīr, and Imam al-Jazūlī.

It also includes well-known formulas such as al-Ṣalāt al-Ibrāhīmiyyah, Ṣalāt al-Fātiḥ, al-Ṣalāt al-Nāriyyah (al-Tafrījiyyah), and al-Ṣalāt al-Aḥmadiyyah. The Ṣalawāt are accompanied by information concerning their reported virtues, sources, backgrounds, and occasions or times of recitation.

The practice of sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ is established in the Qur’an and Sunnah. Allah Most High says:

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O believers! Send blessings and salutations upon him abundantly.” (Qur’an 33:56)

Jāmiʿ al-Ṣalawāt provides a broad collection of Ṣalawāt together with their transmitted sources and related devotional material, making it a useful reference for the study and practice of Ṣalawāt.
