Misbah al-Arwah مصباح الأرواح

Qadi Nasir al-Din al-Baydawi (d. 685 AH) ranks among the greatest scholars of the seventh century AH, excelling in theology (Kalam), jurisprudence (Fiqh), Qur'anic exegesis (Tafsir), and Arabic linguistics. A leading authority of the Ash'ari tradition, his writings became foundational texts that inspired generations of commentaries (hawashi) and remain central to the study of Islamic theology.

Among his earliest theological works is Misbah al-Arwah (The Lamp of the Souls), as the author himself names it in the introduction. Despite its concise format, the work masterfully distills the essential doctrines, arguments, and objectives of classical Kalam, offering a comprehensive overview of the theological discussions that shaped the seventh century AH.
