Qalāʾid al-Marjān fī ʿAqāʾid al-Īmān (“The Necklaces of Coral in the Articles of Faith”) is a theological treatise by the renowned Damascene Ḥanafī scholar, theologian, and Sufi Imam ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Nābulusī (1050–1143 AH / 1641–1731 CE).

The work presents the principal doctrines of Sunni creed within the Māturīdī theological tradition. It discusses the fundamental areas of Islamic belief, including Ilāhiyyāt (divinity and the attributes of Allah), Nubuwwāt (prophethood), and Samʿiyyāt (matters known through revelation).

Among its subjects are the existence and oneness of Allah and His attributes, the necessity and characteristics of prophethood, the finality of the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ, and matters of the unseen such as the questioning in the grave, resurrection, the Scale, the Ṣirāṭ, Paradise, and Hell.

Features of the Critical Edition

This is the first published edition of the work, which had remained in manuscript form. The text has been critically edited on the basis of four distinct handwritten manuscripts, allowing the editor to compare variant readings, establish the text, and verify Qur’anic and Hadith citations.

The publication makes a previously unpublished work of al-Nābulusī available to students and researchers of Sunni theology and the Ḥanafī-Māturīdī intellectual tradition.
