Rawdat al-'Uqala' wa-Nuzhat al-Fudala' li-Ibn Hibban روضة العقلاء ونزهة الفضلاء لابن حبان
“Rawdat al-ʿUqalāʾ wa Nuzhat al-Fudalā'” (“The Garden of the Intelligent and the Delight of the Virtuous”) is a book by Imam Ibn Hibban al-Busti (d. 354 AH), which gathers a collection of adaab and akhlaq, covering ethical teachings and refined manners essential for a Muslim’s character and daily life. The book covers themes such as the virtue of intellect, guarding one’s tongue, proper companionship, friendship, forbearance, patience, and avoiding negative traits like envy, gossip, and foolishness.
Ibn Ḥibbān presents these lessons through hikam (wise sayings), examples, narrations, and statements of early scholars, all in a clear and impactful style. It remains one of the notable classical works on Islamic ethics and character refinement.
