Muhadarat Ilmi: Fiqh 3 Volumes (Dr. Mahmood Ghazi) محاضرات علمی: فقہ اور متعلقات فقہ ۳ جلدیں
Muhadarat-e Ilmi: Fiqh aur Muta‘allaqat-e Fiqh is a three-volume collection of original articles and talks by Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi exploring various dimensions of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), including its principles, historical development, and contemporary application. At a time when the concept of Shari‘ah is widely misunderstood—both in the modern West and among many Muslims—this work provides much-needed clarity and scholarly perspective.
Volume 1 contains five studies on the nature and objectives of Shari‘ah, the principles of fiqh, its historical development, and the question of achieving ijma‘ (scholarly consensus) in the modern age.
Volume 2 presents seven discussions on Islamic law in the contemporary world, including the codification of fiqh, Islamic international law, the Islamization of law in Pakistan, punishments in Islamic law compared with Western legal systems, and the issue of insurance.
Volume 3 includes ten studies on legal maxims (qawa‘id fiqhiyyah) and their evolution, the contributions of later Shafi‘i scholars, modern business and trade, the collective and economic benefits of Hajj, Islamic laws of land ownership, hudud and qisas in Pakistan, the issue of female testimony in hudud cases, and women’s suffrage.
Drawing on his deep grounding in both classical Islamic scholarship and modern legal thought, Dr. Ghazi offers a balanced and insightful treatment of fiqh and its relevance to contemporary challenges.
