Al-Muhaddith Ahmad ʿAli al-Saharanpuri: His Contributions to Hadith Literature

Muntasir Zaman’s Al-Muhaddith Ahmad ʿAli al-Saharanpuri: His Contributions to Hadith Literature provides a meticulous biographical and analytical study of one of the most influential Hadith scholars (muhaddithin) of nineteenth-century India. Chapter 4: The Printing of Sahih al-Bukhari
This chapter examines al-Saharanpuri’s meticulous preparation of the printed edition of Sahih al-Bukhari. He gathered multiple rare handwritten manuscripts and carefully collated their variants in an effort to establish an accurate and reliable master text.
