Dar al-Fath's edition combines Sheikh Muhammad al-Khudari's acclaimed Nur al-Yaqin on the Prophetic Seerah with Itmam al-Wafa, covering the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Together, they provide a clear, authentic, and widely taught foundation in early Islamic history for students and educators.

This combined publication by Dar al-Fath (Jordan) features two of the most celebrated and widely-studied classical-modern textbooks on early Islamic history, both written by the pioneering Egyptian scholar and historian, Sheikh Muhammad al-Khudari Bey (1872–1927 CE):

1. Nur al-Yaqin fi Sirat Sayyid al-Mursalin (نور اليقين في سيرة سيد المرسلين)

Literally meaning “The Light of Certainty in the Biography of the Master of the Messengers,” this is one of the most famous and accessible books on the Prophetic biography (Seerah).

Sheikh al-Khudari relied heavily on early authoritative sources like the Seerah of Ibn Hisham and the Tabaqat of Ibn Sa’d. He avoided weak or fabricated narrations, presenting a chronologically accurate, highly engaging, and spiritually inspiring account of the Prophet’s ﷺ life. It is universally used as a curriculum textbook in Islamic schools and universities worldwide.

2. Itmam al-Wafa fi Sirat al-Khulafa (إتمام الوفاء في سيرة الخلفاء)

The Book: Meaning “The Completion of Fidelity in the Biography of the Caliphs,” this book serves as the direct and natural sequel to Nur al-Yaqin.

It details the history of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (Al-Khulafa al-Rashidun): Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them). It chronicles the expansion of the Islamic state, the governance, trials, achievements, and the preservation of the Prophet’s legacy under their leadership.

The Dar al-Fath Edition

Dar al-Fath’s publication of these two works is highly prized because of its:

Academic Verification (Tahqiq): The text is meticulously edited to correct historical names, trace dates, and verify the Hadith narrations cited by the author.

Modern Formatting: It uses clear typography, structured subheadings, and helpful footnotes, making it an indispensable resource for students of Islamic history and general readers alike.

Who Is This Book For?

Sheikh al-Khudari wrote these books with specific audiences and purposes in mind:

A. Students of Islamic History and Knowledge

The author was a professor of Islamic history at the Egyptian University (now Cairo University) and a shariah judge. He noticed that classical history books were often too voluminous, dense, or filled with unverified narrations for classroom settings. He designed these books specifically as academic textbooks for students in Islamic schools, institutes, and universities. The chapters are structured systematically, making them easy to study, memorize, and teach.

B. Beginners and General Readers

If someone wants to read a biography of the Prophet ﷺ and the Caliphs that is deeper than a basic children’s book but not as overwhelming as multi-volume classical works (like those of Ibn Kathir or al-Tabari), these books are the perfect middle ground.

They are written in eloquent, clear, and modern Arabic that is highly accessible.

They avoid bogged-down academic disputes or dry genealogical listings, focusing instead on the actual events and lessons.

C. Seekers of Authentic and Filtered History

In classical Islamic history books, scholars often compiled every narration they came across, leaving it to the reader to verify their authenticity. Sheikh al-Khudari did the heavy lifting of synthesizing and filtering these reports. While not entirely free of academic critique, Nur al-Yaqin is widely praised for relying on highly authentic traditions (sound ahadith) and avoiding highly weak or fabricated myths that sometimes found their way into later historical works.
