Kitabat-e-Quran Kareem ke Mukhtalif Marahil aur un ka Tareekhi Pas-e-Manzar) کتابت قرآن کریم کےمختلف مراحل اور ان کا تاریخی پس منظر
This book is based on a PhD thesis on the science and history of Qur’anic orthography (kitābat-e-Qur’ān), offering a comprehensive and scholarly study of how the Holy Qur’an was written and preserved through the ages. It explores the history of the Arabic script and its development, the writing of the Qur’an during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ along with his guidance on its recording, and the compilation of manuscripts during the era of the Companions (Ṣaḥābah).
The work also examines in detail the principles of Rasm al-ʿUthmānī, the historical development of diacritical marks (iʿrāb and nuqāṭ), and the structured division of the Qur’an into surahs, verses (āyāt), ajzā’, manāzil, aḥzāb, and rukūʿāt. In addition, it discusses the science of waqf (rules of stopping) in the Qur’an and its importance in correct recitation and understanding.
This is the first detailed research work in Urdu that systematically addresses the historical development and technical rules of writing and preserving the Qur’an, answering key questions related to Qur’anic orthography with academic depth and clarity.
The author is a teacher at Dār al-ʿUlūm Karachi and completed his PhD at the Federal Urdu University, Karachi..
