Jalib al-Faraj wa-Salib al-Haraj fi Zallat al-Qari جالب الفرج وسالب الحرج في زلة القارئ
One of the most comprehensive works at the intersection of fiqh and tajwid, discussing the legal rulings regarding Qur’anic recitation (and common mistakes) in salah, with a strong focus on removing hardship on people. Written by an 18th century Ottoman scholar who hailed from Trabzon (modern-day Turkey), and traveled to Istanbul, Egypt, Syria, Madinah, and Makkah. Stresses the importance of creating ease in learning and reciting the Qur’an, quoting more than 60 hadith related to this topic. Also discusses the correct qualities of the letters, the recitation of the Sahaba, the issues of shadhh riwayas (in prayer), and rulings for those who cannot pronounce the letters correctly or who make mistakes in various situations, among other topics. This critical edition was published for the first time on the basis of several manuscripts, including a copy composed by the author himself.
