This unique publication combines two of the most famous and foundational classical poem texts (mutun) in the science of Tajweed (the rules of Quranic recitation) into a single volume: “Tuhfat al-Atfal” and "Matn al-Jazariyyah."

Notably, this specific edition features a layout that includes dedicated wide margins for taking notes (Hamish li-Tadwin al-Mulahazat), making it an invaluable workbook for students and teachers of the Quran.

The Two Texts Included

Tuhfat al-Atfal (The Gift of the Children): Written by Sheikh Sulayman al-Jamzouri (d. 1208 AH / 1794 CE), this is an introductory 61-verse poem. It is the absolute starting point for beginners, covering the basic rules of Tajweed, such as the rulings of Noon Sakinah, Meem Sakinah, and Madd (elongation).

Matn al-Jazariyyah (The Jazariyyah Text): Written by the master of Quranic recitations, Imam Ibn al-Jazari (d. 833 AH / 1429 CE), this is an advanced 109-verse poem. It covers deeper aspects of Tajweed, including the articulation points of letters (Makharij), their characteristics (Sifat), and the rules of stopping and starting (Al-Waqf wa-al-Ibtida).
