Al-Tafsir al-Balaghi lil-Ayat al-Muftataha bi-Lafdh al-Jalalah التفسير البلاغي للآيات المفتتحة بلفظ الجلالة في القرآن الكريم
The academic study titled “التفسير البلاغي للآيات المفتتحة بلفظ الجلالة في القرآن الكريم” (The Rhetorical Interpretation of ayahs Commencing with the Majesty Pronoun [Lafdh al-Jalalal - Allah] in the Noble Qur’an) is a specialized research work in Qur’anic linguistics and rhetoric (balaghah), authored by the contemporary scholar Dr. Al-Mu’tasim Billah Dabash. There are eighty ayahs in the Quran that begin with the name of Allah. The research focuses on the rhetorical and stylistic secrets (asrar balaghiyyah) behind starting these Qur’anic ayahs directly with the Majestic Name of God: “Allah” (الله).
In Arabic rhetoric, the sequence of words and how a sentence begins (the ibtida’) carries immense weight. Beginning an utterance with the word Allah is a deliberate rhetorical choice that serves multiple purposes depending on the context of the ayah.
