Here is the original book of Al-Khawarizmi, the founder of the discipline of algebra. Contains the Arabic book as well as its English translation and comments. Belongs in every school library.
A study of the evolution of Islamic thought in the Subcontinent in general and Shah Wali Allah's contribution to it in particular for he represents the zenith of Islamic intellectual contribution and scholarly excellence in South Asia. The author, Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi, with his insight into the dymanics of Indian Muslim history, traces significant moments of the rise and fall in the cultural career of the Indian Muslim community until the crisis-ridden era of Shah Wali Allah. About a dozen musnads have been compiled that contian the ahadith narrated by Imam Abu Hanifa. Among them the one compiled by Imam Abu Na'eem Ahmad ibn Abdullah al-Isbahan is significant for Isbahani was a Shafii scholar. This edition has been produced with painstaking research by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Shaheed Nomani from the musnad of Isbahani. Also contains articles discussing the stature of Imam Abu Hanifa as a Hadith scholar.
This book is a work of art. The artist Neyyar Ahsan Rashid painted the ninety-nine Beautiful Names over a period of two decades. She also recorded her reflections about each of these names, which were then rendered into Arabic and English verse. The painting appears on the right hand page while the Arabic and English verses appear on the facing page on the left. The book has been beautifully produced under the guidance of Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari and will be a prized gift. It has been jointly published by the Islamic Research Institute of the International Islamic University, Islamabad and the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, Georgetown University.
