This is the famous history book from the well known Ibn Kathi, who is equally known for his tafsir. The title means "The beginning and the end."It is an excellent reference on the history of the prophets, seerah, the history of early Islam and the history of al Shaam and Iraq up until the year 768H.

This is the complete book ending in the accounts of the year 767AH. That is followed by volume 8 which consists of subject indexes. The book of al-fitan wa al-malahim is NOT included (which is there in the five volume Maktaba Farooqia edition (stock 3419) as well as the Dar ibn Kathir print (stock 3884))
