"The term 'heart' has a primal position in the vocabulary of Muslim religious teachers and in that of the philosophers. The term is used in Islam for the seat of intellectual and emotional life. In this treatise, al-Ghazali unravels its wonders and secrets, achieving his desired end - to lead man to the good life. This is the twenty-first book of the third quarter of al-Ghazali's Ihya Ulum al-Din."Translated by Walter James Skellie.

The collections of Ahadith (sayings of the Prophet {SAWS}) are a very unique aspect of Islam both inasmuch as their content as well as their modes of preservation and transmission are concerned. They have also been a favorite target of orientalists who have attempted to challenge their authenticity, claiming that they were transmitted orally (and transcribed much later) and therefore subject to misreporting and alterations. Dr. Hamidullah discovered very early collections of hadiths preserved in libraries in Turkey, France and Germany, which clearly refute such a charge. The earliest of these is the Sahifah of Hammam ibn Munabbih, a disciple of the noble Companion Abu Hurayra, Radi-Allahu anhu. Dr. Hamidullah checked the ahadith of this compilation against the those of Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, and Imam Ahmad and found that not one of them had changed despite the span of centuries between the Sahifah and the later compilations. This Sahifah is presented in this book in the original Arabic as well as English translation, along with a very beneficial introduction on the compilation of and preservation of Hadith during the time of the Prophet {SAWS} and the Companions.

From the publisher: "Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall and Abdullah Philby were Englishmen of courage and adventure who travelled widely in the Muslim world and came to love and admire what they found. By accompanying them on their life journeys, it is possible to view some of the great dramas of the time through their eyes. This short biographical essay, under our Occasional Paper Series, interleaves two lives spanning a period from the 1890s to the 1940s."

Due to significant changes that have taken place in the nature and essence of money and monetary value, and the dominance of interest-based debt financing, the nature of capital and sharing of profit and loss have become complex issues. The book analyses in detail the practical relevance of these in the operation of Islamic financial institutions, and attempts to provide some new insight on the relevant shari‘ah regulations. It studies capital in joint ventures financed by Islamic banks, and scrutinises the method currently used by Islamic banks for determining the profit sharing ratio between the bank and the client.

The famous Islamonline.net was receiving many questions from its viewers from around the world in their forum. Many of which were psycho-spiritual in nature, making the need for a Muslim psychologist inevitable. When Malik Badri was approached by Islamonline.net to initiate a cyber-counseling program, he readily obliged. The novel and humble collaboration of Malik Badri and Islamonline.net in answering these questions has materialized in a book. The selection of questions and solutions prescribed here are varied, from marital disharmony and dysfunctional families to anxiety disorders, parapsychology issues, drug addiction and the influence of the mind over body. It is hoped that some of the solutions provided here, based on Islamically modeled therapy, will continue to help others with similar problems in this changing world of globalization.

The author explores various dimensions of Islam and studies some of the more hidden aspects of the encounter between Islam, Muslims and modern Western civilization. These encounters are viewed from the perspective of sacred history, viewing events as a continuum of Adamic story. Seen through this prism, the contemporary global conflicts gain a degree of depth that is often lacking in secular approaches. The prism through which contemporary events are seen is constructed by tapping into the primary sources of Islam - the Qur'an and Sunnah - as well as the early history of Muslims and the traditional Islamic view of the cosmos and the human condition. This book builds a compelling case for seeing the contemporary situation as a continuity of an old conflict between those who believe in the Creator and those who do not.
