This book investigates differences between East and West in connection with the preservation of traditional principles, with a special view to envisioning how such differences affect the possibilities for the restitution of such principles in each domain. Special attention is given to various aberrant 'spiritualities' in the West, and how they might be overcome by reference to teachinigs still extant in the East, and a rejuvenation of what remains in the West of organizations retaining at least a core of the metaphysical teachings that were in full bloom in the medieval West.

They provide detailed discussions of the most important thinkers and the key concepts in Islamic philosophy, from earliest times right up to the present day, as well as a series of discussions of the cultural and religious background. This book is out of print. A few copies left.

This work by Ahmad Thomson deals principally with the history of Christianity in Europe, with particular reference to Spain, tracing the movement of the original Unitarian followers of Jesus (Isa, Alayhi salam), from North Africa and the Middle East up into Europe and Spain. It goes on to describe the formation and expansion of the Trinitarian Church in Italy and the rest of Europe and outlines the almost total annihilation of the Unitarian Christians at the hands of the Trinitarian Church by means of the Mediaeval Inquisition. This is useful in understanding how Islam was able to spread so readily and rapidly in Andalus.

Like other guides to good health, Healing Body & Soul advocates abandoning an unhealthy diet and altering a sedentary lifestyle, but this book goes beyond the mere physical aspects of health. The book is divided into five chapters, each concerning one of the five components that make up your body, mind, and soul, clarifying in each chapter how to look after that part of you and keep it healthy. During the course of the book you will notice how these bodies are interconnected; the health of one is highly dependent on the wellbeing of the others, so that a happy, healthy life entails a balance between all of them. The book's message: Live holistically taking care of all of 'You': your body, mind, heart, and soul.
The author presents the guidance of the Prophet (pbuh) in dealing with a variety of health issues, including treatment of ailments and preventive remedies to keep the body fit. Translation of Ibn Qayyim's celebrated work.

This is a unique book. You may be aware of a few of the contributions of Islamic Civilization to the history of humanity and the world we live in today. For example, many people know about the Islamic origins of Algebra and Arabic Numbers. However, much of this history remains obscured, and hidden from view. This book places many aspects of the profound impact of Islamic Civilization into plain view and shows how it has been suppressed and distorted. Western historians, in general, have removed the Islamic source with regard to every single change that affected science and civilization at the origin of Western civilization, and modern civilization, and then, each and everyone has substituted a number of explanations for such changes within their field of study. This systematic suppression of the Islamic source of modern science and civilization has been, however, noted by individual historians who have re-considered the history of their subject. Thus, in his `History of Dams,’ Norman Smith, began his chapter devoted to Islamic dams, by noting how historians of civil engineering have ignored the Muslim period, and have claimed that nothing was done by the Muslims, even worse, they have blamed the Muslims for the decline of irrigation and other engineering activities, and their eventual extinction, which is `both unjust and untrue.’ (from the Introduction) The book's more than 500 pages are packed full with thousands of referenced facts and includes a substantial select bibliography. It is set to become the standard reference work for the subject and the starting point for anyone wanting to explore the field further.

"14th-century Arab historian Ibn Khaldun founded a special science to deal with the problem of history and culture based on the philosophies of Plato, Aristotle and their Muslim followers. This work examines the philosophic foundation and principles of Ibn Khaldun's new science of culture, to show that an adequate understanding of his contribution to the study of the various aspects of human society requires an understanding of his all-comprehensive approach to sociology."
Ibn Khaldun, the fourteenth century Arab historiographer and historian, is viewed as a founder of modern historiography, sociology and economics. He lived during a turbulent part of history, and out of his experiences, he “conceived and created a philosophy of history that was undoubtedly the greatest work ever created by a man of intelligence...”. This work tells of the period of unrest in Ibn Khaldun’s life marked by political rivalries. It is during this turbulent period which provided him with the opportunity to write the Muqaddimah (or Prolegomena), earning him an immortal place among historians, sociologists and philosophers. The author of this biographical piece, Mohammad Abdullah Enan (1896-1986) was one of the Arab world's most renowned contemporary historians.
The Muqaddimah, or "Introduction," is the earliest critical study of history, the work of the Arab scholar Ibn Khaldun written in 1327 as the preface and first book of a world history. Though it is the preliminary section of the history, the Muqaddimah has become known as a self-contained work, treating in almost encyclopedic detail the general problems of the philosophy of history and sociology.
This edition has been translated by Franz Rosenthal and abridged by N. J. Dawood. It should help in making the essential ideas of Ibn Khaldun accessible to the English speaking reader, despite distortions in the translation of some Islamic expressions.
